i just got back from my colonoscopy.. i must say. it was a pretty interesting experience. the worst part was definately drinking the gallon of medicine by far. towards the end i felt like i had to throw up, so i was on the toilet, AND i had the trash can in front of me as well. it was a blast. so this morning, i forgot that i wasn't supposed to drink anything and i was suuuuuper thirsty so i downed at least half of a water bottle in the car and in the waiting room. I'm not sure why my dad didn't stop me, he was sitting next to me the entire time. SOOOO. i get called in and they tell me i have to wait another 2 hours and pee it all out. thank god fluids go through me quickly. i'm pretty sure it was all out within an hour. the prep part is kind of overwhelming. you have 3 different nurses doing a bunch of different things to you. one was hooking up my ekg, pulse ox, and taking my bp. another was sticking a thermometer in my ear, and another one was sticking me with the iv, which for some reason really creeped me out. usually getting stuck doesn't bother me, but when you're surrounded and being moved all over the place you don't really get much space to relax. it's funny because since i was hooked up to the heart monitor i could see my heart rate increasing, so i spent the remaining time laying there trying to get my mind and body to calm down to get the numbers to go down a little. it was a nice game to help preoccupy my time. it's kind of interesting becuase just raising my hand up to press buttons raising my pulse almost 10 beats per minute. kind of cool that your heart reacts to such little movement. ok so for the good stuff. the anesthesia was AWESOME! best sleep EVER! they make you so comfortable too, i got to hug a pillow the entire time when i was out. it was great. i guess that's why Michael Jackson got hooked. when i woke up, i didn't think the procedure was done yet, so i told them to give me more anesthesia lol. the nurse was like "nope, sweety, all done, no more for you."
so all in all. it wasn't too too bad of an experience. i can get used to this. thank god i can eat now :D
