Today during lab we went out into the woods. First we made a leave packet where we stuffed a bunch of leaves into a net and tied it to a rock in the river. we're goign to check them in a couple of weeks to see what kind of insects and water creatures crawled into it to study what lives in there. I learned a bunch of things about GVP park today. For example, the hut building in the picture was originally meant to house ponies, and Olmstead( the park designer) planned for the open field to have sheep and goats living there. However, there are no sheeps or goats there today :( After this we walked around in the forest for 3 hours to examine all the trees. It was really cool, i felt like i was on a tour. I've decided today that i really wouldn't mind doing field work as an occupation. I think that would be pretty awesome. I think towards the end of the 3 hours i started getting really tired and cold though, but still fun! OOO, we also saw a little baby snapping turtle that just hatched out of the ground. We were trying to find the nest where the mommy turtle layed her eggs, but we couldn't find them. He was so cute ^_^ i want to go back to the woods and play some time, or have a picnic. it's soo pretty, there's this really nice path cleared too, and some bridges that apparently have streams running through when it rains, or during the summer. ooo and there's a marsh there too! all these interesting things we never know about rochester!!
